Seva

Introduction

Helping out is not some special skill. It is not the domain of rare individuals. It is not confined to a single part of our lives. We simply heed the call of that natural impulse within and follow it where it leads us.

– Ram Dass

SevaSeva is selfless service performed without any expectation of reward for the person performing it. Seva is believed to help one’s spiritual growth and at the same time contribute to the improvement of a community.

The idea of selfless service is an important concept. Because God is inside everyone, serving other people is considered a devotional practice of serving God. Service to make life easier for others.

Remember, Seva should be part of our daily lives, not refined to something we volunteer for once in awhile. In every action and thought, we should remember to help others. The key is to live without attachment of outcome.
